Idlewild Disc Golf Course -- Burlington, Kentucky

I needed a break one day last week, so I drove 75 miles to
Kentucky and one of the top-ranked courses in the country.

Holes 1 and 2 were fairly open.

Many holes had several baskets varying in difficulty. This
hole can play to the basket on the right or to a second
basket across the lake on the edge of the water.

The area behind the basket is out of bounds, and the creek
in front of the basket is out of bounds.

The course is beautiful with lots of variation in elevation
and holes that follow wandering streams.

On this hole you cross the water four or six times, depending
on which basket you want to play.

This one is 1001 feet long. My drive almost reached the
top of that rise in the fairway.

After what I thought were three pretty good throws, I
reach this sign -- another 400 feet to the basket.

After my fourth throw on the 1001 foot hole, I am looking
down at the basket in the trees with out of bounds in front
of and behind the basket.

The shortest hole on the course is guarded by the biggest
tree on the course.

A walk through the thistles to the next tee.

From the tee, I look through the Y-shaped tree to the green
fairway.

Lots of little bridges to help you get through the water to
find your errant discs.

At my home course I shoot 63. On this course I shot 93 --
and felt good about it.

The sign says only PDGA members should use this path to
the next tee.
