Recent reading -- the last 10 books that I've read.

I wanted to understand the code behind the menus I am using
in my journal, so I worked through some of the exercises in
this book.

A book by an autistic woman who came to realize that her
differences in cognitive processing helped her understand animals.
A just-published book by the same woman.

Best American comics for the year 2008. I bought it
because it was compiled by Lynda Barry who I like a lot.
In graphic format, an autobiography of Pulitzer Prize winning
graphic artist, Art Spiegelman. Also includes a collection of
his formerly out-of-print comics.

A just-released book for children and adults about a boy raised
in a graveyard. (The graveyard is a safe place and the outside
world is full of danger.) This is a delightful book. I had
nightmares during the entire time I was reading it -- in other
words, it really stimulated my imagination. It also made me laugh.

I re-read this book by the same author as the book above. It
has been made into a just-released 3D animation movie.

This is a manual for Adobe's Lightroom software, but it is also
a travelogue where 18 photographers and a team of Adobe
software engineers explored Tasmania, testing the software.

I've never read anime, until now. I wanted to see what it
was like, so I read this compilation of Japanese anime artists.
It took me a while to get the hang of reading from back to
front and right to left.

Last, but certainly not least, was this novel of young adult
Muslims living in modern America. It is in the same vein as
the American classics, Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger
and On the Road by Jack Kerouac. I read it because I wanted
to increase my understanding of Muslims in America. And I did.
