Disc Golf in Pennsylvania

I played the course at Moraine State Park three times. This hole, with
Lake Arthur in the background, was a lot of fun. The picture shows a
fairly open driving area (out of bounds on the left). The terrain slopes
down toward the lake, so you get good carry. See next picture for the
     second shot....

A good drive would land somewhere around here with the hole turning
90 degrees to the right and straight down the hill. The basket is in the
flat area nearest the lake. This hole is 852 feet from the gold tees, and
692 from the blue tees (which I played).

The lake view hole is followed by a much harder hole. Harder
because it goes into the trees, then up the hill through trees,
and finally across another plain with lots of trees -- 624 feet
     from the blue tees.

Judging by the course records, this course is approximately
one shot per hole harder than the course I play at home.

A fun hole where you throw from the top of a hill, over the
young trees below, hyzering toward a basket on the far left.

This is the first hole looking from the basket back toward the
tee. It's an easy hole and I parred it all three times that I
     played it.

The second hole goes through the trees to a basket that is
located to the left once you get up the hill and into the sunlight.
I got a 5 on this hole every time.

This 564 foot hole (from the blue tees) is typical of many in
that it narrows half way to the hole and then opens up
again on the other side of the trees for another long throw
     toward the basket.

Looking back from the basket on another long hole that is
open around the basket, but very narrow in the middle of
     the fairway.

Hole 18 comes down the hill with an OB creek (that you can
not see in this picture) running across the fiairway just
before the grassy area begins. I played early in the morning
both days and you can see the morning light filtering
     through the trees.

A nice picture from behind the basket looking down the
fairway on the far right hand side of the picture.

     The morning sun.

     Nice paths between the holes.

As I came out of the woods onto a tee, there were 10-12
wild turkeys pecking in the grass. All but one scampered into
the woods before I could get the camera out of my pocket.
I also saw two adolescent deer.

I played twice on Friday, once by myself followed by a second
round with two friendly guys my age who I met on the course.
I came back Saturday morning and played again.

On Friday, after playing twice at Moraine State Park, on my
way home I stopped and played the Knob Hill course in
Cranberry. There is a tournament in a week or two that will
be played on both the Moraine and Knob Hill courses. Note
that there is a little hole next to each possible basket placement
so a pin can be used to designate the current location.

Another interesting thing at the Knob Hill course is that trees
are sometimes protected with a black, rubber tube such as
the one you see on the left side of this picture.

I pulled off my best roller shot to get near this basket in 3,
but proceeded to 4-putt. See the picture below for one of the
putts I missed on this hole....

My missed putt rolled down along the log, leaving me this
very unique putt, which I also missed.
