The Dam Shot -- a highlight of the final round (the Showcase round) at the Hambrick
tournament in Columbus is this throw from a shelter on the dam over trees to a basket
on the other side. View a panorama of the shot here (opens in a new browser window).

The dam shot is created as the third hole during the final,
showcase round of the tournament. At this point only the
four leading men and three leading women are playing. They
throw from the tower on the left hand side of the above
picture. Spectators line up across the dam to watch.

Other spectators are by the basket and will give a cheer if a
throw makes it across the trees and ends up near the basket.

Nate Doss makes his throw and clears the trees.

Des Reading makes her throw and also clears the trees.

In this shot of Dave Feldberg you get some idea of the
distant trees that they are throwing over. Wow.

Sarah Stanhope did not make it across the trees, but she
finishes the hole with a good putt to the elevated basket.

Nate Doss uses a little body English in an unsuccessful
attempt to move his putt to the basket.

Des Reading putts for a par 3.
