Math and physics (for laymen) are among my favorite
escapes. I really liked this one.

Here's a funny one -- Amy recommended an African memoir (on the left)
and I accidentally ordered the science fiction book with a similar title.
Joey, my grandson, recommends anything by Neil Gaiman.
A software manual for iLife 09 on the Mac.
A software manual for Adobe Illustrator, version CS4.
Fetish cartoons by the creator of Superman comics and a collection of
"dirty drawings" by famous cartoonists. It was especially interesting to
compare the introductions to these two books. The Superman book is
all about the simplistic, naive division of good vs. evil while the intro
to the dirty drawings was written by Robert Crumb who understands
very well the more accurate and insightful blending of good and evil in
the same person/situation.
A GREAT little book (read it in an hour) based on 90-second
imaginary interviews with famous dead people that Kurt
Vonnegut previously recited on New York public radio.
A manual for my camera. Maybe some day I will learn half
of the features on one of my cameras.
At least I might learn what most of the dials and displays
are for.
Slackjaw was a somewhat interesting memoir by a writer for the Onion.
The other book is a less-interesting (my opinion) follow-up book.
A short book, a memoir of what it is like to be old. The
author, Diana Athill, is six years older than mom. I read it
to further my understanding of being old and female.
