Hardware

I purchased a Kindle reader about six months ago. I'm happy
to report that it's something I use every day. I subscribed
to USA Today and the Pittsburgh Tribune. The first thing I
do each morning is grab the Kindle at my bedside and scan
the news and any articles about the Pittsburgh Steelers.
I've also read three novels/biographies.

Shows the thinness of the Kindle. It's easy to hold and read
in bed (or anywhere). The screen is not back-lit, so you have
to turn on a lamp at night. Most books cost $9.99 and
download in seconds (some books are free).
I ugraded the hard drive on my Mac mini (the old one was
half the capacity and was malfunctioning).
I found a 1 terabyte drive on sale for $89 so I got it to
create backups of everything including years and years of
photos. The drive has a power supply and can be used with
any computer, but my HP computer has a slot so you can
simply slide the drive in -- like the one you see in the
background that is already half inserted.
The new drive, not fully inserted into my computer.
Fully inserted (the door can be closed if you like).
Also about six months ago I installed a new video card.
A stablizing handle to which you can attach many varieties
of digital camera. Using this device, you get much smoother
movement when taking video. (I started to create a video
channel of/for mom on YouTube but haven't followed thru.
I will try to get back to that after the first of the year. )
