Disc golf at Milo McIver State Park -- Estacada, Oregon

The Milo McIver course is located in a state park along the Clackamas
River about 45 minutes outside of Portland.

The river flows along much of the course. There are serious
dropoffs from some fairways, and you can hear the sound
of the water during much of your round.
I bought two new discs, a Valkyrie and a Wraith. I ended up
using the Valkyrie from the tee all day long. I love it.
The two signature holes at Milo McIver are from opposite
sides of a hill above the river. This is the drive from the
East side of the hill.
This is the drive on a later hole from the West side of the hill.
The drives come out of the dark hole.
Can't you just imagine discs flying from this opening?
Steps up the hill to the signature holes.
Steps up the other side of the hill. Very scenic.
There are two short holes with lots of trees on top of the
hill. There are severe dropoffs on both sides of the fairway.
The basket is at the end of the opening on the right side,
but the opening is VERY small. I threw overhand shots down
the left side each time I played the hole -- neither was very
successful.
The first hole on the East course is pretty easy, but the
second one is a killer. Over 1000 feet from the pro tee.
And when you reach the basket (along the river), it is
protected by three sisters.

Some holes are tight and wooded, and some have nice, open
fairways like this one.
Another open fairway.

Not so open. Nice variety of holes.
Path from one hole to the next.
Another scenic path.
A look from the basket back to the fairway full of thin trees.
This is a short, downhill hole with a 90 degree dogleg.
We go home tomorrow. I can't wait to come back and play
the Milo McIver course next time we visit Portland.
