Each site has a big, metal food locker where you store your food, toothpaste, beer,
etc. so the bears don't try to break into your tent or vehicle during the night. After a
few beers I decided it would make a good story if a bear tried to get into my van with
me in there, so I left one cooler in the van. Maybe some souvenir scratch marks on
the side of the van....
If a bear attacked, I planned to use the
flash on my camera to try
to scare him away. I woke up in the middle of the night thinking, "What the hell am
I doing?"
No scratch marks.
