Burning Man

I finish my adventure at Burning Man and Gail flies to Reno to meet me. Life is good. Thanks so much to Cliff and Amy for taking care of mom so I could do this one more time.

I regularly wonder, while ordering my Burning Man ticket during the Winter in Ohio and whiie sitting in the desert in Nevada, why I am attracted to the event. There's the art, the satisfaction of surviving in the desert, and the pleasure of driving across country to get there. I had another realization this year -- it is gives me great pleasure to see so many people being free, doing what they want. Regular, work-a-day life allows for almost none of that.

Burning Man driving
I spent 5 days at Burning Man enjoying the art, the sight of people being free, and life in the desert air. For the first time in 4 years, there were no dust storms while I was there.

Yosemite flying saucer
I left Burning Man two days early and drove several hours South to see Yosemite National Park. I camped, communed with nature, and explored the small towns around the park.

Downieville, California driving
From Reno, Gail and I made a two-day trip to the historic mining town of Downieville, CA. We spent the night in a carriage house with a deck overlooking the Downie River. (Gail's last name is Downie).

Driving Home flying saucer
I drove from Reno to Dayton through Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana. I made my usual stop in Moab, Utah where I camped and checked the disc golf course.

Floating driving
Peaceful times at Pyramid Lake are one of our favorite things about the Reno, Nevada area. The lake is within a Piaute reservation about 30 minutes North of Reno.

Wind Storm flying saucer
I arrived home from vacation three days after Dayton's unprecedented wind storm. Trees, branches and power lines were down all over the city.
