I also passed these windmills in Kansas. I thought it was especially interesting when
the windmills were scattered throughout corn fields.
Disc Golf and World Peace in Colby, Kansas
I spent a night in Colby, Kansas while driving home from vacation last month. I checked the Internet and found there was a 9-hole disc golf course right down the street from my motel. I played a few holes in the morning so I could add Kansas to my list of places where I played disc golf.
This plaque at a small radio station next to the course caught my attention. There are a lot of pro-war things out West (full-sized helicopter or military airplane in children's playground, radio airwaves full of ads telling parents how great it would be for their sons and daughters to enlist, etc.), but you rarely see anything promoting world peace. I listened to the Colby station, KXXX, and I believe it is an all-volunteer farm station. I'd love to know the story behind the plaque.
