I raised the metal box twice and didn't see anything. Almost ready to leave, I raised
it once more and looked up, inside the top of the box. The cache was there, attached
by two magnets.

Here it is. My first find.

Inside there is an instruction sheet explaining what geocaching is, and asking people
to please return the box where they found it.

There is also a log so people who find the cache can add their names and dates. It
was first found in January, 2008. The most recent find before me occurred on the
previous day.

My search began with this information from the geocaching.com website. I copied
the coordinates for the cache (highlighted in blue above), and pasted them into
Google Earth.

Google Earth identified the position in a nearby bank parking lot, back row, fourth
space from the left. That's where mom and I headed.

My other search is rated a little higher in difficulty. I haven't found it yet, but I am
going to give it at least one more try.

The Google Earth location of my unfound cache. Note that there is a small creek that
runs under the boulevard.

I carefully entered the exact coordinates and it looks like the spot might be in the
tunnel under the road. That is where I'll look later today.

Here's my van during an earlier, failed search of the boulevard. My first guess was
that the cache was somewhere in the grass separating the two sides of the boulevard,
so that is where I focused my search.

I thought the cache might be under this rock at the base of a sign, but no luck.
Stay tuned to see if my search of the tunnel yields better results.

Geocaching
Geocaching is an interesting, world-wide hobby. People hide a cache and use GPS to identify the position which is entered on the www.geocaching website. At the website, I searched for caches in my neighborhood. I looked twice for one cache and haven't found it. But the second one I searched for was identified as easy, and was my first find. It was on a lightpost in the metal box on the picture to the left.
