Here's the view from the other side. The grassy part is mom and dad's old property.
Dad had a vegetable garden in the space that is the center of the picture. He was
very proud of it.

My uncle Bud eventually moved across the dirt road from mom and dad. As the
properties came up for sale, his sons bought and moved into several of them. Uncle
Bud's son, Jimmy (I think), bought mom and dad's old place and eventually built
this house. The little garage on the far left remains -- it was dad's tool shed.

The view from the back of the house. Like dad, I always loved the place. Mom
acquiesed after a while and moved in with dad. Later dad acquiesed and they both
moved to an apartment building in Mars, PA.

Dad's Trees (And the Almost Breakup)
Mom and dad lived in a new mobile home in the country for a while. Mom hated it and dad loved it. (They almost broke up over it -- for a while dad was in the country and mom was in the apartment building.)
Dad planted little, two-foot pine trees along the property line. When I was in Pennsylvania, I drove out into the country to see if I remembered how to find the place. Here, on the left, is the first view I had of dad's little pine trees. Wow, it's a forest. |
