I had never worked with a 2.5 inch hard drive before. I was amazed at how small and
light
this 250 gig hard drive was.
I had to get a metal bracket to hold the hard drive in place, and an adapter (pictured
above) so the hard drive would connect easily to my laptop.
The final step was to open Computer Management and tell the OS to recognize the
hard drive, and then format it. Everything went smoothly and now I have 3x the disc
space that I used to have on my laptop.
Laptop Upgrades
Memory is very cheap these days, so I decided to max out the memory on my laptop. You can see the new memory on the right side of the picture -- just above the wireless modem. While researching the memory, I stumbled on the fact that there is a second bay for an additional hard drive in my laptop, so I decided to add a second hard drive. The empty bay for the hard drive is on the left.
