I brought everything from mom's refrigerator and freezer since she won't be home
until mid-September, so I had plenty to cook on my trusty hot plate in the motel room.
For breakfast I made pork chops, eggs and a little ham (getting rid of leftovers).

We stopped for fresh peaches in Southern Georgia.

And pecans, too.

Various types of pecans.

You have to look closely to see the ice cream of the same color as mom's shirt.

The second day we drove to a very cool place, Cedar Key, on the West coast of
Florida. We stayed in this motel on the water.

The back of our motel with tables, chairs, swings, our own dock. I'll post more
pictures of Cedar Key and our room on a separate page.

Our dock at sunset.

The next morning we had breakfast at a little, country place on State Route 19, a
couple of hours North of Tampa.

Mom is dressed to impress (Cliff).

This is our shortest day in the van. We will get to Tampa by early afternoon.

Arrival brings a big grin from mom.

Drive to Florida
I was surprised to realize that it has been 20 years since I last drove to Florida. I used to drive once or twice every year, but I've been flying lately. Mom, Tangi and I made the trip in my van so that I can leave for Burning Man as soon as Cliff and Amy get home from their trip. Mom will stay with Cliff for a month.
I decided to take three days so it would be easy for mom. The first day was the longest. We drove a little past Atlanta (more than half way). Can you find Tangi in this picture of the motel room? |
