Mickey sits on mom's lap for hours.

But not Tazzie.

Tazzie will get right next to mom's chair, but definitely not on the lap.

He doesn't even like to be touched by strangers. After being here 24 hours and
warming up to him the best I could, I picked him up to carry him outside. He made
the most god-awful noise and reacted like the worst possible pain was being
inflicted on him. After that he wouldn't let me anywhere near him. It looks like the
dogs.are going to stay in the kennel while mom and I take care of the cats and the house.

If they were both like Mickey, we'd have it made. (Mickey has to stay in the kennel
to keep Tazzie company.)

They were kept in cages all their lives and used for breeding. Neither one could walk
up steps until recently. Tazzie still can't go down steps. And they are not house trained.
Because their teeth were so rotten, the vet can't tell how old they are.

Mom and I watched both the house the and animals when Pepper the cat was first
adopted by Cliff and Amy. Pepper spent her earliest days sitting by mom all day long.
She still remembers mom and sits on mom's lap for long periods of time -- longer than
she will sit with Cliff or Amy.

 The Dogs

Cliff and Amy are fostering two dogs who were seized (along with over 100 other dogs) during a raid on a local puppy mill. They hope to keep the dogs when all the legal fighting is completed. Mickey (on the left) will sit on anyone's lap for hours, but Tazzie (on the right) doesn't like to be touched by anyone other than Cliff and Amy.
