A narrow fairway at Coachman with trees on the left and dangerous water on the
right. The next three holes follow the canal.

Almost in the hazzard on this throw.

I posed my disc on the edge of this hazzard just for the photo opportunity. Looks like
a good home for alligators. I am standing next to the basket as I take this photo --
so don't miss your shot to the right.

This throw is real. the only time I almost lost my disc. I retrieved it with a stick,
watching carefully for predators. (Update: I lost this disc on my last day in Florida.)

I've avoided the alligators (so far), but now the bees.

After dinner, I played Greg Pas Memorial. It took me some time to figure out where the
holes were because the course is scattered through deep woods. Here is my best
drive. My disc flew just to the left of the palm right in the middle of the fairway and
landed in the fairway (?) and came to rest about 150 feet from the tee -- just where
the fairway seems to end in the picture above.

Here's a scenic fairway on the Greg Pas course. Now that I've mastered the layout,
I can play this 9-hole course in about a half hour -- and this is the closest course to
Cliff's house, and the least used. I was the only one there. Every hole has four tees;
I played the shortest tees. Maybe later in the week I will move back.

Playing Disc Golf -- Three Courses
Yesterday I located three disc golf courses and took some pictures. Today I went back and played all three courses (plus extra holes).
The first place I stopped was Coachman because I thought it looked like the easiest of the three courses. At first I just jumped around playing any hole that was open. Here is my approach shot on the first hole that I played. Notice the trenches filled with swamp water around the basket. This course has more tricky water holes than I realized -- a pro-am tournament was played here a few days after I played.
After playing random holes, I started at the beginning and played the first 9 in order. I'll be back for the entire 18 later this week. |
