back

I was accustomed to big art.

And radical self-expression.

And graffiti.

I was accustomed to fire.

And nice people.

And interesting visual images.

And all sorts of specialized camps.

I was accustomed to lighted, mobile birthday cakes playing loud music.

And nice guys on motorized carpets (and a shelter made from used clothing in
the background).

I wasn't surprised by motorized lounge chairs, but I would still love to have one.

I wasn't surprised by a photoshoot one evening on the playa in front of my camp.

Or by a naked man taking a picture of the Man.

I was accustomed to the playa.

And dusty activities on the playa.

And interesting things at Center Camp like a Winnie the Poo chair and naked yoga.

And, of course, the man.

So why did I take these pictures if the wow! is gone? Because the images
are still interesting, right?

I've only been home from Burning Man for two weeks and the pictures are
making me want to go back already. When tickets for next year go on sale in
February, who knows? I may feel an irresistible call from the desert. Or maybe not.
Either way, I'll be happy for the newcomers next year who get to experience the Wow!

No More Wow!

As I look through my pictures, it is hard to remember that when I was at Burning Man I didn't feel that sense of Wow! this year.
