I remember this mountain from last year. It signals the beginning of the mountains
in Colorado (heading East). It was at this point that I went South to explore my
new route.

I spent the night in the town of Salida, Colorado.

My motel on the edge of town.

Lots of little bars like this one in town.

It had an outside patio.

And this one -- I forgot to ask what the triple M's stood for.

The Arkansas River runs through town.

There are rapids, and lots of fishing and kayaking.

The next morning, I followed the river out of town.

These lands are your lands, these lands are my lands....

Breakfast along the Arkansas River.

I bought some fresh Colorado peaches at a fruit stand. And six ears of corn.

A mountain reservoir.

Colorado

I took a new route through the Rocky Mountains, a state highway just South and parallel to I-70. It ran through several mountain towns, including Salida, and followed the Arkansas River down the Eastern side of the Rockies.
