Burning Man and Driving Home

Earlier this month I finished my stay at Burning Man and enjoyed my return drive from Nevada to Ohio. I spent some quality time in Utah and Colorado. I stopped (again) at Moab, Utah and explored a section of Canyonlands National Park. In Colorado I explored lakes on a mesa and I followed the Arkansas River down the Eastern side of the Rockies.

Mom and Cliff had a good month together, and mom returned to Ohio on September 8. She flew alone and I had a gate pass that allowed me to meet her as soon as she got off the plane.

Canyonlands National Park There are three separate areas that make up Canyonlands -- Island in the Sky, Needles and the Maze. During my trip home, I explored the Needles area. On my way out, I explored Island in the Sky. The maze, a goal for next time, is not accessible via paved road.

No More Wow! During my third trip to Burning Man I noticed that the Wow! factor was pretty much gone for me. I can relate to those who pine for the days of their first visit when everything is so, so amazing. It's still nice to escape some social norms, see the art, and create a camp in the desert, but maybe I've had the full experience?

Burning Man -- My Camp
I upgraded my camp this year, using an Army surplus parachute attached to a frame made of PVC pipe. It looked better than the plastic tarp design of the past two years, and it withstood three serious dust storms.

Burning Man -- Sample Pictures
I will post additional pictures using the Burning Man links at the top of the page. But for now, here are a few images that I liked.
