A closeup of one of the Amphigorey books.

This is a revised edition of one of my all-time favorite books
on Web design. I picked it up because I wanted to see what
the added, new chapters have to say.

I saw the movie, "Into the Wild," and the main character made a
stop at "The Slabs," a place/community in the California desert.
Doing some research (I am determined to get to The Slabs), I
learned that some of the action in this book takes place in The
Slabs, so I got the book and read it.

I am just about finished with this one about a family who adopted
and raised to old age a runt of a pig. Very pleasant read.

A book that is intended not to be a recipe for creativity, but the
yeast that makes the recipe work. Review by Casey Reas (the
son of former colleagues at Sinclair): "Design process is an
elusive beast. Cloninger has tamed it, and has it doing tricks in
his living room."

An old paperback by a famous Indian philosopher. My experiences
in India continue to influence me.

Will Eisner is one of the originators of graphic novels. Here he tells his
own story, his autobiography using the graphic novel medium.

As the cold weather arrives, I look forward to spending some
time inside with software and books like this one.

I am enjoying a trio of books by Edward Gorey called Amphigorey, Amphigorey Too and Amphigorey Again. Each is a compilation of about 20 works by Gorey.
"Amphigorey" means "a nonsense verse or composition." |
