South Carolina with Mom
Mom and I are on a leaf-viewing adventure through Southeastern Ohio, West Virgina, Virgina and North Carolina. We will spend some time in Little River, SC where I can attend a condominium association meeting, and then we'll head back home.

How can people effectively govern themselves if they have little or no ability to think, see the big picture, recognize propaganda when they see it, etc.? You can't base effective governance on simplistic slogans like "Support our troops" or arrogant assumptions like "God is on our side." |

Thanksgiving Mom and I had a nice Thanksgiving together. We cooked our turkey on Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving. And we visited the Downies on Thanksgiving afternoon. A nice, relaxing day. [ more ] |
Christmas Shopping Done! I woke up before 5:00 a.m. on Friday after Thanksgiving and thought, "What the heck. I'll give crazy-shopping one more try." For the first time ever, I was actually able to get some things I wanted, and guess what? My shopping is done. I can't believe it. [ more ] |

As reported (in an article I read about visitors to Vermont, for example), the leaves are not as bright and colorful this year. Mother nature's celebration of the warm weather to cold weather transition is a little subdued this time around.
