Two hours outside of Dayton the snow was gone, and we didn't see
any during the entire drive down and back, even though we drove
through the mountains of West Virginia and Virginia.
Mom, as we drive.

Mom, leaning forward to get the sun out of her eyes, watches some
TV as we drive through Charleston, West Virginia.

As evening approaches, we look for a room in Wytheville.
Our room -- lucky number 13.

A picture of me taken the next morning by mom as we drive through
North Carolina.

Passing Pilot Mountain in North Carolina, approaching Winston-Salem.
Almost there -- next to the Pee Dee River.
The river, the South, the sunshine.

We arrive safe and sound, with nothing but blue skies above the
condo in
Little River.

Trip to South Carolina
I took mom to Little River, SC to escape the ice and snow in Dayton. We stayed overnight on the way down and on the way back -- to make the trip easier for mom.
This is our room in Wytheville, VA on the way down. With TV, microwave, fridge and all the food and drinks we brought, we were settled in for a nice evening. I bought a hotplate so we could make soup during our motel stays. |
