The Old Neighborhood

I hadn't heard the word, "Bohunk," in quite a while. Hungarians who came to Pittsburgh to work in the steel mills were called "mill Hunkies." And Bohemians (like my dad) who worked in the mills were sometimes called, "bohunks" -- short for Bohemian Hunkies or Bohemian mill Hunkies.

I was surprised to see this truck in Dayton a couple of weeks ago. The guy was very creative and had a variety of signs on the truck (e.g. across the side door: "This door must remain open during hours of operation") and a variety of plastic characters on the dashboard.
