Start with 3 cups of rolled oats (I used Quaker Oats). In a separate bowl (or in a
measuring cup) combine 1/2 cup of pure maple syrup, 1/4 cup of cooking oil, and
3/4 teaspoon of salt.

Add 1 cup of sliced or slivered almonds and a cup of crushed walnuts to the oats.
Add the syrup/oil/salt mixture and stir.

Spread the mixture on two cookie sheets and bake at 250 degrees for an hour and
fifteen minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.

After baking the oats, add a cup of raisins and another cup of dried fruit -- dried
cherries or blueberries and dried cranberries work well. The cranberries add a
nice, little tart taste.

Here the oats, nuts and maple syrup mixture has been removed from the oven
and is ready for the dried fruit to be added. Store in a closed container.

Homemade Granola

It's the best cereal I've ever had. Thanks for the recipe, Amy.
