The park wasn't open yet (as a camper, I was already inside the gate), so I was the
only person on the trails.

The trail started pretty easy. At times a gradual and at other times a steep incline
-- about two miles.

Patches of flowering bushes. I assumed they were mountain laurel.

But when I searched the Internet, the flowers didn't look like these.

I reached the base of hanging rock, but still had a long way to go to reach the top.

At the base of hanging rock. The trail winds behind and up the hill in back.

Ah, there's the top.

What a great view. And I'm very glad that I'm the only one up here.

A good place to meditate.

The sky on one side still shows signs of dawn.

My hike began at the little, light-coloroed speck in the distance on the right-middle
of the picture. That speck is the visitor's center and parking lot. It was all uphill to
here, and my legs were rubbery for the rest of the day.

Time to head back down the trail.
