A New Year
I've been keeping an on-line journal for nine years. The journals before 2002 were mostly job-related -- a way of holding myself publicly accountable for my work which included designing and teaching some of the first on-line courses and furthering the cause of educational technology in higher education.
Now I am accountable to no one. I suppose that could be dangerous.

Letter to the Editor My letter to the editor was published in the local newspaper. The issue: county taxpayers should have an informed say as the local community college (supported by county taxes) attempts to move into surrounding counties (who have no levies to support community college services). I am afraid there is a lack of open communication and debate. Too many decisions are made behind closed doors and simply announced to the public. If community colleges are going to geographically expand services, the entire funding structure, especially local taxes, needs to be re-examined. |
