Worst Memory of 2006

As a child in grade school, I remember reading about public executions -- hangings and beheadings -- that served as a kind of entertainment for the masses. Families would bring their children, and cheer. I could not imagine such a thing.

During the pre-election speeches that Bush gave (uselessly and solely in Bush-friendly environments), there was a speech in Texas the day after Saddam Hussein was sentenced to be hanged. Bush announced the hanging and thousands of people cheered and screamed loudly. It was insane. I remember thinking, "So this is how it was in the middle ages."

I can still hear that screaming mob. It is my worst memory of 2006.
