Parts of the drive were very misty with limited, but interesting views.
I had driven up the Oregon side of the gorge several times, but never
up the Washington side until now.

I stopped at the Riverside Cafe in Stevenson for lunch. This is my
view through the window next to my seat.

And this is my view if I look down at my table.
I spent my last afternoon playing some trivia at George's Corner Bar.
I exchanged text messages and phone calls with players in Ohio.
I played the Showdown game at Jimmy's Pizza and Sports Bar where
I picked up a pizza for Joey and I. I was the only player, so during
category round (where you vote for a preferred category), I always
got my way. (Showdown plays at 8:30 p.m. in Ohio, but at 5:30 here.)
Psychologically sound trivia in the men's room at George's Corner Bar.
I spent the previous day with Cole. We went to Powell's Books
in downtown Portland. Powell's is enormous. I never made it to the
Pearl Room (with art books) on the top floor, so I started there
this time.
Weather changes frequently in Portland. Downtown, the sky was
blue for a time...
so we walked a block to Sushiland for lunch.
Sushi passing by on the conveyor belt. You take what you want, and
when you are finished they count your plates and give you a bill. The
color of the plates determines the prices for various types of sushi.
Speaking of food, I showed Joey how to make stuffed peppers. He
doesn't like green peppers, but he made these for the rest of us.
While in downtown Portland, I visited two of my favorite comics stores.
Here is one of many racks with locally made comics and something I
hadn't seen before -- locally made movies on DVD. Portland is a
very creative place.

From downtown, Cole and I picked up Joey from school and we all
went shoe-shopping
and then to Applebee's for a snack and a drink.
One evening, Joey and I watched the movie, "Harvey." It is one of
my favorites and one of his, too. I had a great trip -- it was nice to
spend time with Joey --15-year-old, high school student, Joey!
