Goodbye to Ohio.

It's light out, and -9 degrees, as we reach Minneapolis. I have a
short layover and then 3 more hours to Portland/Vancouver.

Cole mailed me a key, and I easily found her car on the roof of
the airport parking garage. She and Lisa are in San Francisco and
I get to spend a couple of days with Joey before they get home.

As I drive to the house in Vancouver, I am reminded that there is
a stronger liberal contingent in the Pacific Northwest than in Ohio,
and I'm glad.

I find the house with no problem, and Mouse the cat is there to greet me.

She doesn't know me, but after a suspicious look she decids that
we can be friends.

Mouse has cute way of getting a drink. She wets her paw in the water
and then licks the water from her paw.

I had a couple of hours before Joey got home from school, so I
drove around to get my bearings, and I walked on Vancouver's Main Street.

The Tip-Top Tavern -- with obligatory outside patio for smokers --
was a good place to have a quick beer to celebrate my arrival.

Vancouver, Washington

Leaving the Columbus airport at dawn for a short trip to see Cole, Joey and Lisa. Joey had his 15th birthday this week. We'll celebrate.

I left the house at 3:30 a.m. and was checked in at the Columbus airport by 5:10 a.m. Before leaving, I had a nice breakfast at Max and Erma's in the airport.
