My winning streak was broken at Fitzgeralds, where I lost $7.50.

The next morning, we drove to Virginia City. Here is a look back at Reno. I didn't
know that Virginia City was so high in the mountains.

Virginia City bills itself as the biggest monument in the US. The whole city is a
monument to the old West.

We had lunch at the Delta where I lost another $2 in the slots. This losing streak
must end.

And we visited places like the Bucket of Blood Saloon and the Red Light Museum.

The bars and restaurants on the East side of the street had these windows and
decks with great views -- they claimed you could see for 100 miles.

This is the view looking East from Virginia City.

I think Virginia City was most famous for silver mines (the Comstock), but there
were also gold mines -- total of $753 million taken out of this little place.

Gail is trying to take her share from here. It looks like she won.

And she won again.

I think she's won five more nickels.

Ooops. She gave it all back.

From Virginia City, we drove to Lake Tahoe. Yea, I broke my losing streak. I won
50 cents at Bill's Casino in South Lake Tahoe.

Gail did even better at Bill's. Here she won 60 quarters.

I talked her into cashing out so that we could both leave Bill's Casino as winners.

On the way back to Reno, after our visit to Lake Tahoe, we had dinner in Truckee,
California at a Mexican restaurant.

More gambling -- my streak is broken. And a trip to Virginia City.
