Trivia at The GetawayThe last time I was in Pittsburgh, I searched for and found an important trivia location called the Getaway Cafe. It is on the South Side, on the blue belt, at the intersection of Sussex Ave. and McNeilly Rd. Our Dayton trivia players noticed the Getaway on the national boards often, especially during music games. Some of our music specialists are interested in a road trip to join Getaway for some music games. I timed the drive from Dayton to the Getaway and it took just over four hours. Unfortunately, I didn't see a motel within walking distance. I met two nice players, SHARK and EBS. They made me feel at home, and they said visitors from Dayton would be welcome. The menu is large and I thought it was exceptional. In addition to all the regular stuff (prime rib, BBQ ribs, stir fry, quesadilla, bourbon chicken, gourmet burgers), there were things like Feta Bruschetta -- baked oval pita bread with chopped tomato, cucumber, garlic, olive oil and special seasonings topped with feta cheese. And Yankee pot roast, Maryland crab cakes, Getaway steak salad, Louisiana Cajun halibut, an open faced crab au gratin sandwich, and much, much more. Deserts included banana split, colossal NY cheesecake, and "Turtle Tini" -- "A classic fudge filled individual cheesecake on a graham cracker crust sits atop layers of chocolate sauce, whipped cream and a cherry. topped with homemade caramel sauce, sugared almonds and more whipped cream." (You won't find that at Cadillac Jacks!) They also serve Sunday brunch.
