The nicest thing about our street is Jeanne. She is an angel. Here is Echo in front of
Jeanne's house choosing a bone from the pile she leaves for passing dogs each day.
Also note the bucket of water for dogs and the bird house. She installed a gate to keep
the dogs off the porch where she has water and food for neighborhood cats. She also
spreads peanuts along the curb for the squirrels. When she sees Echo coming, she
goes into the house and comes out with an additional handfull of treats. Echo loves her
-- she is the first person besides me and Gail that Echo felt comfortable with. And
Echo certainly recognizes Jeanne's house when we take out walks. All neighborhood
dogs stop at Jeanne's when they take their walks, and she knows them all by name.

A typical bag of litter collected during one of my daily walks with Echo.
It contains candy wrappers, empty cigarette packs, soda lids, scraps of
paper, and an empty water bottle. My biggest finds so far were an empty
twelve pack and a pizza box.

Litter Patrol

Beginning last month, I have assigned myself the job of liter patrol in our neighborhood. Here's a picture of our street after one of my early cleanup efforts.
