My new laptop to the right and my old one to the left. I cleaned a lot of things
off of the old laptop, defragged and otherwise tuned it up, and it is working fine. I
used the external hard drive in the background to move files from the old laptop.

We started a minor upgrade to Gail's computer and one thing led to another
until everything had been replaced, including a new install of the OS, except
the case, the mother board and the processor. We replaced the power supply
and sound card, added a graphics card, a second hard drive, new memory,
and a Lightscribe double-sided DVD writer. Her former bare-bones system
is now top of the line.

We pirated the power supply for Gail's computer from this large case that I've had
for years but never used.

New Hardware

I purchased a new laptop with Windows Vista. Now I am set, both laptop and desktop, for years.

In the past I've had Toshiba, Sony, and HP laptops. All worked fine and traveled very well (multiple trips to India, camping, the desert, etc.). This one (an HP) has a TV tuner so I can watch and record TV. It also has a built-in video camera, microphone, lightscribe CD/DVD burner and a 17 inch, widescreen monitor -- lots of workspace. I have to be careful not to design web pages or graphics for the high resolution of the monitor.
