After some playing around in Photoshop, I arrived at the image above.

 


I added some text and did some more experimenting in order to get the text to stand
out from the background. Like many pieces of art, an image like this is never really
finished -- you just play with it until you are tired of it, and then move on.

 

From Bad to Art

Some comments on the art process:

I hate to delete images, even (especially) bad images. On occasion, my painting instructor used to issue the challenge, "try to paint the worst picture you can." The message must have stuck with me. It seems that the creative process is helped along by beginning with a bad image. Good images are distracting -- for example, the mind is not as eager to change a good image.

[An aside: yet again, good is bad and bad is good -- yin-yang.]

The miscolored sky was especially annoying to me, so the first thing I did was convert the image to black and white.
