From Bad to ArtSome comments on the art process: I hate to delete images, even (especially) bad images. On occasion, my painting instructor used to issue the challenge, "try to paint the worst picture you can." The message must have stuck with me. It seems that the creative process is helped along by beginning with a bad image. Good images are distracting -- for example, the mind is not as eager to change a good image. [An aside: yet again, good is bad and bad is good -- yin-yang.] The miscolored sky was especially annoying to me, so the first thing I did was convert the image to black and white. |
