Driving Home -- Kansas

Highway Sights

The long drive across Kansas....

I drove across Nebraska instead of Kansas the last three times I drove across country. This time, for a change, I am crossing Kansas.

More Kansas

I think I avoided Kansas because I remembered it, from other trips, as
long and not too exciting.

Lots of highway signs with small, interesting attractions.

Silos with a church in the background.

I stopped in Wilson, the Czech (my heritage) capital of Kansas.

Insurance agency with Czech and German language on the sign.

The red flag must be Czech, but I am not familiar with it.

Wilson.

I also drove through the cowboy town of Abilene.

I stopped in Topeka, but couldn't find an interesting place to stay.

So I moved on to Lawrence, the home of the University of Kansas.

I think Naismith might have invented basketball here. He definitely had
some connection.

In a room with wifi, I prepared a lot of these pictures, but didn't get any
of them posted. I also played a little trivia at one of the 7 trivia bars in town.
