New Lens

Tamron

I bought a new lens for my camera. It is an 18-200 mm lens from Tamron made specifically for Nikon digital SLR cameras. It was about half the price of the equivalent Nikon lens.

More Lens

Here's the camera with the lens extended. The advantage of this lens is that
it does the work of a close-up and a zoom lens. Therefore, you don't have
to carry two lenses, and you don't risk getting dust inside the camera
when you change lenses in the field.

I did some experiments, shooting Echo in ways similar to previous shots
with the Nikon zoom lens.

I always had trouble shooting these flowers because the color is so
bright.

Admittedly, this was an overcast day and that helped.

I was not impressed with the close-ups I took.

This one is a little better. (I adjusted all of these images in Photoshop.)

To show the range of the lens, I took this picture and the picture below
with Echo and I in the exact same places for each shot.

Echo and I standing in the same places as for the picture above.

One of the better performances by the new lens. Overall, at this early point,
I would say this lens is clearly inferior to a Nikkor lens.
