Scraping the Windows

A New Look

The side windows were covered with a plastic coating. I spent considerable time scraping the coating from the windows. I think the van looks better and I can see better when I am driving.

By the time I got to the second window, I developed a system of cutting the coating into strips and working on one strip at a time.

More Scraping

At first I used a razor blade and scraped small pieces at a time. But as I
worked, I developed better methods. I tried using a hair dryer to heat the
coating, but that didn't seem to help.

After working with the strips for a while, I learned to place one finger under
the strip and one on top. By applying equal pressure across the strip, I was
able to peel strips off, slowly, in whole pieces. Much better!

Here she is -- with the side-door windows completely cleared.

Echo kept me company while I worked. She watched the street ot
make sure no one bothered us.
