Non-Art

What an Embarrassment

I am ashamed of the Dayton Art Institute. And it's too bad, after DAI sponsored some very good shows in the last few years.

The current non-show ($18.50 per adult ticket), quoting their description: DIANA, A CELEBRATION presents the life and humanitarian work of one of the most remarkable women of the 20th century. Visitors will get a rare inside look at the late princess’s public and private life through nearly 150 objects, including her 1981 Royal Wedding gown, 28 designer dresses and gowns, family heirlooms, personal mementos, paintings, and rare home movies and photos.

This crass attempt to extract money from people who must not have the first clue about art is embarrassing. Truly hicksville. Why not an Elvis show next? My evaluation of DAI is forever lowered.

Art is a broad, broad, broad topic, but it does not include Princess Di's dresses presented in this manner.
