Edward Gorey

I found this biographical book of interviews with Edward Gorey.

I read his book, The Epiplectic Bicycle, many years ago. But I didn't know anything about him or his eccentric habits.

Of course, once I read this book, I had to find copies of some of his illustrated writings (see below).

This Edward Gorey book, The Gashlycrumb Tinies, is an alphabet book --
A is for..., B is for..., C is for... -- where a child dies with each letter.
For example, "E is for ERNEST who choked on a peach... F is for FANNY
sucked dry by a leech."

A favorite -- I'd recommend it to anyone. If you are like me and
know very little about the Mongols, read it and see how favorably
Genghis Khan compares to Caesar or Alexander the Great or
Europe during the middle ages. There are many modern lessons, too.

Cliff brought this photographic book from the land of our ancestors
-- the photographer's last name: STRUHAR, same as mine.

Artist Ralph Steadman worked with Hunter Thompson. This book was $50,
so I just read (and photographed) it in the bookstore.
