Red Bananas

They Are Real

Red bananas became a trivia joke between me and Dan, and eventually everyone at Eddie's. There was a question to which "red bananas" was the right answer according to Dan. I claimed there is no such thing as red bananas, but he was certain (and correct -- he managed a grocery store for years).

From then on when either he or I was certain, we would say, "red bananas." For example, "That's number 2, red bananas" -- and the rest of the bar eventually adopted our system.

 

More Red Bananas


They are a slightly different color inside, with more substance and more
flavor than normal bananas.


I was surprised when I stumbled onto them at the grand opening of
Lowes Foods. I bought some for me and some for Dan and his wife.


Dan took his red bananas and, along with all the other late-afternoon
trivia players, went home. I checked at BW, but couldn't find anyone to
play the topics game that I had been looking forward to -- modern paintings.
So I went back to Eddie's and played the game myself. I finished 20th in the
country, just below BCHBUM, who led the Cadillac Jacks team in Ohio.
