Liver Pudding

This liver pudding reminded me of my grandfather who owned and ran a German butcher shop and grocery store. He made various types of lunch meat including blood pudding (yes, from the congealed blood of the slaughtered animal) and a clear jellied lunch meat with bits of tongue in it. I remember liking that one.

When we were small, my mother and two sisters liked liver pudding (mostly called liverwurst). I bought this, and had it as a snack with beer, because it reminded me of my grandfather, my childhood, and my mother and sisters. It was good. I should get some more and take it home for my mom.

Food and Celebration

I took myself to this buffet as part of my on-going celebration of the Steeler
victory over those poor, poor Bengals.

On my first day here, I made chicken noodle soup and also a big batch of beef
stew [one bowl pictured above]. I didn't have to cook for the rest of the week.

Except for breakfast, of course. I tried those silly, mushy sweet potato things.
Nix on those!
