Clearwater Marine Aquarium

Animal Rescue

The Clearwater Marine Aquarium exists primarily to provide rescue services for injured or sick dolphins, turtles, etc.

The stingray exhibit is an exception. These are healthy stingrays (with barbs removed). They are kept in a petting pool for educational purposes.

More Aquarium

The East coast stingrays, as opposed to the gulf coast stingrays, do not
like to be touched and are generally afraid of people, noises, etc. Here
is an East coast fellow hiding in the sand (while the bay stingrays swim
near the people and show off).

A turtle skeleton.

The real thing.

After the aquarium, Gail celebrated (mourned?) her last day in Florida with
a pina colada, including whipped cream and cherry, at Clearwater Beach.
