More Burning Man Preview

Empire is the first of two small towns up near Burning Man. The sign
says it all -- "Welcome to Nowhere."
We stopped in the only store (in Empire or Gerlach) and bought ice cream
and candy.
The other town, Gerlach.
As we approach the playa on the right, these mountains are on the left.
That crazy, cloudless, blue sky.
Passing the road that will be the entrance to Burning Man.
The welcome sign will be hung here soon.
Gail sees the playa for the first time.
I'll be camping right over there in a few days.
We can see the Burning Man site.
But no access is allowed.

Here comes a truck, and there's that familiar dust.
We spent some time driving on the playa. I wish I had a rental car --
I'd ...
Gail has an idea: "This would be a great place to teach your mom to drive."

We drove up to the end of the playa. This area is called "Black Rock," and
I wondered if the darker rock on the left was the reason?

The paved road ends, so we turn around.
On our return, we stopped in Gerlach and I won $25 with one pull on the
slots. Is that a good omen or what?
