| July Classes ended two weeks ago, but my official first day of retirement. is today, July 1. A commemorative self-portrait. I began my introduction to gaming with the purchase of a Nintendo GameCube. Gaming is dangerous. Last week I spent two days in Columbus attending three free Macromedia demonstrations of the MX product line. A retirement card from Betty at Duke's. I built my third computer from scratch. This one is the most powerful. Diversions After several tries, I finally got the dual monitor thing working. I hadn't submitted works to local art shows for years, but I submitted one this week. I received my first retirement check -- it is a partial. Yet
another self-portrait. Looking forward to a Fourth of July cookout. Here are some memories of a cookout a couple of weeks ago. My retirement trip to Portland to see Cole and Joe -- I tried to be more artistic with my images. (in case you missed it above) I showed my grandson, Joey, how to build his own computer. A new Web design book refutes the (boring) Jakob Nielsen school of thought. The book is Train of Thoughts by John Lenker. I'm reading a novel they turned me on to in Portland, The Tin Drum. Summer Fun: Gail and I enjoyed a day at Moraine Splash and a day at the Warren County Fair with a short visit to the British Isles Festival. The Elder Beerman store downtown is closing -- I paid my last visit and I bought my souvenir. Some DAFUG members celebrate my retirement. A trip to Mars to see mom is the perfect way to finish my first month of retirement. Experiment with Physics and Math in Flash.

August Two new pieces of software that I have been experimenting with: Toon Boom Studio and Sorenson Squeeze. I finally found time to visually document the new burnout ramp in South Carolina. The still life art show with my piece of art runs through most of this month at the Dayton Visual Art Center (DVAC). Another trip to Mars to check in on mom. I'm glad to see she is feeling better. And then it's off to South Carolina to surf the real world. I am getting more serious about Linux, and loving it. My understanding of Mac and Linux were both enhanced by attendance at Computerfest 2002. My only computerfest purchase was a Pyro device that converts any hard drive to an external hard drive. In order to do fair comparisons with other operating systems, I built a new Linux computer. My new Mac OS arrived. No problems with the intallation. Throwing away old software boxes. Gail has the porch looking nice, as she does every Summer. |
September Celebrated the beginning of September with a baloney omlette. Here are my three OSes living together happily. For no reason -- a crab. The last time I was in South Carolina I found a new bar on the ocean. I drove to Northern Cincinnati to see the Apple Store. Every minute a sucker is born. The computer monitor RGB color spectrum. Still playing with the GIMP using my new, used books. I tried to find my retirement gift from Sinclair -- a brick. I haven't found it yet, but I found a friend's brick. A new mySQL book. I can control two computers with one keyboard, mouse, and monitor with this new switch. My Astro van turned over 100,000 miles. |
