Before and after -- my Spring haircut has me feeling peachy.
This morning I was wondering why I felt compelled to post pictures of my haircut. I think I figured it out. I like new beginnings. New Year's Day is my favorite holiday (not News Year's Eve, mind you) -- a holiday for new beginnings. And something I've always loved about college teaching is that every three months you wipe the slate clean -- all of the students go away, you take a rest, and you start clean with a whole new batch of people. Every three months, year in and year out. It is very refreshing to have that kind of closure and freshness. I usually get a haircut at the end of each quarter, too. I don't know if that is why, but haircuts seem to symbolize new beginnings for me. Maybe I should try shaving my head for a true new beginning.
