Comments
from Students During the First Week of Class
The first assignment involved familiarizing oneself with the class Web site and the publisher's textbook Web site, and sending comments via e-mail to the professor. Here are some of the comments received via e-mail at the start of class. Comments will also be gathered along the way and at the end of the class. |

| Overall Negative (only three slightly negative comments) I have reviewed the website and I think I will find it to be very interesting, informative, and helpful in my studies. But on the other hand I must say (and I don't mean to offend you) that I learn best from in-class lectures and if I would've known this was going to be a lot of internet work I would've signed up for internet classes. I feel stuck in this class now because I had just added it on Tuesday. I really hope I get the benefits from this that you are hoping for. ---- [I sent her a note thanking her for her honesty and telling her that I look forward to hearing her opinions later in the class.] This
is my first class that I have taken that the internet is used like this.
I The
site is well organized and promises to be a good reference for the Overall Positive If only more classes were this way. I must
say I love
the idea of using the internet as well as meeting on campus. I'm taking
my first internet class this quarter (ALH 104). I'm very excited about
it! I can tell by looking at your site you took time to set everything
up and it is very organized....Computers are becoming a larger part
of life, more and more everyday. So I think this is a wonderful opportunity
to learn lifespan development as well as increase my knowledge of the
internet, and computers in general. I am
very I checked out the site and I think it's great. I played some psy hangman and somehow managed to not get hung. Actually, I guessed a word that I had never heard of before- semantic- so of course I looked it up and although you probably know that it means "of the nature of a sign; significant; warning" I, well, didn't. I looked around some of the other prompts also and the forums seem very cool and I can't wait to learn how to participate. I think the site will be very beneficial not only for this class but in general. We have a very technological society and this is a great way to be part of it. The site will enrich the class experience and be an excellent resource for it as well. I am really glad that we will still meet as a class on Tuesdays because I value "old school" learning as well as the new. Wow,
I think you are putting way to much work into your website. It is the I think
this course will be very interesting. I don't have a lot of I have
to say, the first day of class I was a bit skeptical about the in-class
and distance learning mix. Although, now I am changing my opinion. I
I was
just on the web site and was I've
tried to get to Reviewed both the class and textbook web sites. Really like the potential for a new experience in learning interaction and the web. Puts a lot of responsibility on the learner to stay in touch and on track, something that can be missed in a traditional classroom setting -- memorize and regurgitate. ... Looking forward to the challenge of learning outside the box, see you Tuesday. I feel
that it will I am
very excited about this class. I think internet schooling is the wave
of the future. The website seemed very interesting. I am most interested
in kids and teens since I have 2 kids of my own I am very excited about your class, first of all being a psychology major all psy classes excite me but I am also excited about the "hybrid" take on the class. Though I was one of the people that expressed I was interested in learning through the Web, I have to admit that I don't really like computers a whole lot. Not only do I not like computers, I am not very good at navigating them. I am hoping that using the computer to learn about a topic I love will help me improve my computer skills, as well as learn my way around the cyber world a little bit better. I think the class web site was great, it had a lot of interesing ideas to think about and it was fun. I think
it was a great idea to have class I feel
that if I can figure out the internet stuff it should be very helpful
and a good I think
that the web assignments will help me keep up I looked
over the class web site and explored some of the parts of it. At hey,
I'm in your psy 208, tues/thurs 4:30 class. After
reviewing the online text and website, I am more inclined to believe
It
is nice to have a supplement that is not on paper. Course Site vs. Publisher's Text Site I think
that the course site will be more I also like the text book site. I've used many sites like this and I think that they are very helpful in understanding concepts, as well as a useful tool when studying. I think that both sites will be a very valuble tool as I learn about development. I am
not sure about the book website I think it would I think
that the text site will help out tremendously for the preparation of
I'm familiar with the text web site from the PSY 119 class taken this past spring from Prof. Twe. I used it regularly for a study aid, being one of those flash card kind of students, and really like the thought provoking enrichment questions provided for each chapter. Hopefully, everyone will use this site, as it reinforces the concepts and definitions in each chapter. I was not as impressed about the text website for a couple of reasons. First of all, on the quizes section it requires you to give personal information and I do not see the need for that. Also, it was pretty dry and boring. I am an avid reader and will probably recieve all the information I need out of the text by the old fashioned way.One good thing about the text website was that it had some great limks in the FAQ section. I also
looked at the The
thing I like most about the text site is that in the FAQ section, there
are a lot of links to other helpful sites. |
